Loan Issues...
Hi Everyone!! Hope everything is going great for "ya'll" (haha..my texas language!).
Nancy I am right along with you right now. I have been waiting for my loan since May 5th and still haven't seen it. Jeff and I have just barely made rent and bills up until now, but it isn't gonna happen for next month until we got our loan money because we are both in school right now. It is stressful, but my clinical supervisor understands completely so she doesn't mind when I sit on the phone for hours trying to contact people at school for help. However, it does take away from learning at the hospital which sucks!
Anywho, my comps are coming right along. I have eight completed but I will probably get a few more done this week. It is getting much easier. I love my pedi patients. Just got a new girl today and she told me people call her Cinderella so the shelf that her blocks sit on I labeled "Cinderella" just for her. I'm also thinking about doing my case study on her because she is my favorite patient and I know she is going to walk away from all of this just fine. One girl that I work with that went to Argosy did her case study on a really rare type of cancer and she said it was very difficult to research so she suggested not to do a rare type of cancer.
Hope all is well and look forward to hearing from you all!

A time to vent!
Hello everyone!
I hate student finance! I suggest that if you are using alternative funds to apply for them now even if you have plenty! My loan has been with Argosy for the past three weeks! I have tried calling and e-mailing but no one is helping. Of course, I can't just hop a flight to MN either. By the time I'm done at the hospital, it is the end of the business day in MN. Of couse, dealing with this matter has affected my time at the hospital. I hope no one else has to go through what I am dealing with right now! As it stands, I am not going to make rent on the first of July!

first month+
hey all.
no one has been writing anything lately and I'm wondering how everyone is doing? has everyone started to do comps and which ones have you done? and also.. how do all your clinics set up your breast cancer patients. I know Jaime talked about how it's different from clinic to clinic and I think it would be interesting to compare the different set ups so we can learn from each other.
I also wanted to write because I finally was able to observe a pediatric case last week and it was hard to watch. She is 2 1/2 years old and was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma and her belly looked like a balloon that was ready to pop. She was under anesthesia the whole time but it was just so sad lifting her lifeless body from her crib/bed onto our table. I'm not sure how you treat patients like her all day Stephanie.. it was tough.

My first two weeks
Hi everyoone! I started out clinical training with floating between treatment machine and the nurses station. I will do that until I reach my 40 hours at the nursing station. I am feeling really comfortable with leveling patients, seting up the room, and table controls, etc. Haven't driven the machines yet, but trying to get that going. My supervisor can tell that I set high goals for myself, but she doesn't want me to overwhelm myself too fast. I have already seen too emergencies..SCC and excessive bleeding. I love my pediatric patients, but it is definitely stressful because they try and sit still for the CT sim and VS but it is very difficult to make them understand why they have to sit still. I have a 3 year old boy who fell out of a shopping cart and the parents took him in to get checked and the found a mass in his brain and it has continued to grow so we are treating him. Hope everyone is doing well and can't wait to hear more stories from everyone!

Woops.
So my clinic has chart rounds every Friday at 9:15 and as a student I have to go even though the attending doctors don't really talk to me, and I don't think they realize I exist yet, and today was really boring and I fell asleep when they were talking about a patient. I woke up maybe a minute or so later because they were still talking about the same patient but it was pretty embarrassing because some of the resident doctors saw me doze off. Anyone else have anything like that happen so far?

Welcome!
Hey guys!
The blog is finally up (thanks a lot to Kyle since I had no idea how to set it up) so we now have a place to keep our chatter going. So let's get this discussion started. How was everyone's first week(s)?
